OSHA & Safety Training
Kentucky strives to do everything possible to make the Commonwealth’s workplace a safer and healthier environment. We are seeking an environment where employees can complete their work day and go home uninjured, as healthy as when they started the work day. To accomplish this we provide free safety and health training to more employers and employees. This service provides on-line training with classes available in both safety and health. These short classes are self-guided, interactive, internet based classes available to any Kentucky employer and employee with Internet capability.
In addition, Kentucky offers employers free consultative services. A consultative survey is a courtesy inspection (workplace evaluation) conducted at the specific request of an employer or employer representative. The purpose of a survey is to encourage and assist employers in providing a safe and healthful workplace for their employees by identifying workplace hazards and violations of the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Program standards.
Registered Apprenticeship Training
The need for skilled tradesmen or craftsmen in Kentucky is more critical than ever. Apprenticeship is a training system that produces highly skilled workers who are able to meet the demands of employers operating in a highly competitive environment. Apprenticeship is a concept that focuses on on-the-job training and is supplemented with technical classroom instruction. When an apprentice has fulfilled all requirements of the training program a certificate of completion is issued. This nationally recognized certification is verification that the completing apprentice is a fully qualified skilled worker in the trade. In Kentucky, apprenticeship is an industry-driven training program with technical assistance provided by the Kentucky Labor Cabinet.
