TRAINING PROJECTS FOR WORKERS APPROVED

FRANKFORT, KY --The Bluegrass State Skills Corporation (BSSC) has approved $1,341,428.11 to support 43 skills training projects. 10 projects were approved using funds from the Kentucky Adult Education/Council on Postsecondary Education (a Workforce Alliance partner) for Workplace Essential Skills (WES) training. (WES training includes, but is not limited to, basic skills for communication, math, technology and problem solving.) The WES projects, valued at $169,375.40 will provide entry level, skills upgrade or related skills training for 1,997 trainees. 21 BSSC grant fund projects were approved valued at $633,483.00 for 1,359 trainees to receive entry level, skills upgrade or related skills training. 7 projects were preliminarily approved through BSSC's Skills Training Investment Credit program valued at $396,128.50 for 1,559 trainees to receive skills upgrade training. 5 Skills Training Investment Credit projects valued at $142,442.21 received final approval for tax credits to support skills upgrade training activities for 393 trainees.
