TRAINING PROJECTS FOR WORKERS APPROVED

FRANKFORT, KY-- The Bluegrass State Skills Corporation (BSSC) has approved $905,350.76 in worker training projects. Through these 38 projects, 12 were approved using funds from the Cabinet for Workforce Development's Department for Adult Education and Literacy (a Workforce Alliance partner) for Workplace Essential Skills (WES) training. (WES training includes, but is not limited to, basic skills for communication, math, technology and problem solving.) These 12 projects, a total of $68,758.27, will provide entry level, skills upgrade or related skills training for 943 workers. The remaining 26 projects were approved through BSSC's grant fund in the amount of $284,984.50 for 1,278 workers to receive entry level, skills upgrade or related skills training. 

In addition, 9 projects were preliminarily approved through BSSC's Skills Training Investment Credit program in the amount of $551,607.99 for 1,480 workers to receive skills upgrade training.

Companies receiving grants and/or tax credits, the amount, number of trainees, and the provider of the training, are as follows:
