PACKAGING AND DISTRIBUTION FACILITY ANNOUNCES NEW 45 EMPLOYEE PLANT IN EDDYVILLE Frankfort, KY- Governor Paul E. Patton today welcomed the announcement that Seapac, Inc. will open a new facility in Lyon County. The new plant will occupy an existing 50,000-sq. ft. building on approximately 22 acres located in the Eddyville Industrial Park. The company plans to add an additional 200,000 square feet to the existing facility. Seapac expects to employ 45 Kentuckians and the project represents an approximate $11.2 million investment in the Commonwealth. Seapac, Inc., is a processing, packaging, warehousing, and distribution facility for dry bulk products. This facility will be designed to receive products via bulk rail and truck. The products will be processed and custom packaged for distribution for specific customers. "This is extremely good news for the Lyon County area," stated Governor Paul Patton. "This state-of-the-art distribution facility shows that Kentucky is one of the best places for companies to locate in order to service their worldwide customer base." "Even as the nation’s economy is struggling, Kentucky continues to attract excellent businesses to the state," stated Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Gene Strong. " We know this continued success is due to our superior workforce and diverse transportation opportunities." Seapac, Inc. received preliminary approval from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) for tax credits under the Kentucky Rural Economic Development Act (KREDA). The facility plans to be operational by fall 2003.
