GreenSky to Bring up to 200 New Jobs to Northern Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 28, 2015) – Hundreds of new jobs are coming to northern Kentucky.

Gov. Steve Beshear today announced that GreenSky Trade Credit LLC plans to move into a new facility in Kenton County and create up to 200 new positions over the next several years – more than tripling its number of current employees in the state.

GreenSky, a leading technology company offering consumer finance solutions for home improvement projects and other major purchases, also is expected to invest approximately $7 million into the project.

“GreenSky has found a successful home in northern Kentucky with steady growth here over the past two years,” said Gov. Beshear. “We’re proud to see the company continue to expand, adding new jobs and investing in the Commonwealth. This expansion will provide a significant boost for the local economy and improve the lives of hundreds of Kentuckians.”

GreenSky will move from its current facility in Covington into a 20,000-square-foot operation on Chancellor Drive in neighboring Crestview Hills. The new facility, which is expected to be open in October, will allow the company to expand its customer service operations.

“We are pleased to expand our operations in this location,” said Gene Burke, chief operating officer at GreenSky. “As we continue to grow our company, the talent available in this region combined with a business-friendly environment enables us to focus on our core mission – to help small businesses owners increase their sales with fast, frictionless, and flexible payment and credit solutions.”

GreenSky’s unique technology enables point-of-sale payment and credit programs designed to assist merchants in increasing sales and enabling homeowners to complete important projects and purchases. Its revolutionary mobile app makes the process paperless, fast and easy.

The Atlanta-based company has operated in the Commonwealth since 2013 and currently employs approximately 65 Kentuckians.

“GreenSky’s growth and expansion in northern Kentucky is evidence of our region’s strong workforce,” said Sen. Chris McDaniel, of Taylor Mill. “Thank you to the company’s leaders for deciding to stay and create new jobs in northern Kentucky.”

“I welcome the expansion of GreenSky in northern Kentucky and congratulate the company on its success,” said Rep. Diane St. Onge, of Lakeside Park. “The 200 new Kentucky jobs being created are an exciting and promising development for the entire region.”

“We’re excited to welcome GreenSky to Crestview Hills,” said Crestview Hills Mayor Paul Meier. “Our city’s diverse landscape offers strong assets for employers, and we are thrilled that GreenSky has elected to stay in northern Kentucky and will be a part of our active business sector.”

“I thank GreenSky for continuing its growth in northern Kentucky and expanding and creating new jobs in Kenton County,” said Kenton County Judge-Executive and Tri-ED Board Chair Kris Knochelmann. “Northern Kentucky Tri-ED has built a strong financial services sector in the region with many leading companies employing thousands of residents.”

To encourage the investment and job growth in northern Kentucky, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $2 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.
