Pharmaceutical Distribution Center Coming To Bullitt County
Bullitt County was the center of attention as Governor Ernie Fletcher announced the location of JOM Pharmaceutical Services, Inc., a subsidiary of health care company Johnson & Johnson, in Shepherdsville. Officials broke ground on the company’s future 325,000 square-foot pharmaceutical distribution center in mid-August. The project is expected to create approximately 100 new full-time jobs and represents an initial investment of nearly $15.5 million in machinery and equipment in the facility.
“Kentucky is proud that JOM Pharmaceutical Services will now call Kentucky home,” said Governor Fletcher. “The Louisville-Metro and Bullitt County region has become a logistics hub, offering companies a central location, access to a world-class freight airport at Louisville International, and the added benefit of the UPS Worldport international hub. These assets and more make Kentucky a leader in global transportation opportunities.”
The new facility will complement distribution centers in New Jersey that service 11 Johnson & Johnson operating companies.
“JOM Pharmaceutical Services selected Shepherdsville because of its central location and the excellent assistance we received from the commonwealth of Kentucky,” said Courtney Billington, Vice President of Johnson & Johnson’s Global Pharmaceutical Supply Group in North America. “We are looking forward to a long relationship and are excited about the new facility.”
Located on Conestoga Parkway in the Settlers Point Business Park, the new distribution center is expected to be open by January 2008. Operations at the facility will include receiving, storage, distribution, shipping, customer service and support services.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved Johnson & Johnson for tax benefits up to $3.96 million under the Kentucky Jobs Development Act (KJDA), an incentive program designed to increase service- and technology-related employment in the state.
