GSI Commerce Announces its Fifth Kentucky Fulfillment Center
GSI Commerce, Inc., a leading provider of e-commerce solutions, announced it would open its fifth Kentucky fulfillment center, this time in Boone County. The project will result in the addition of 500 new full-time jobs for Kentuckians over the next three years.
“I am pleased GSI Commerce, a high growth company, will add another facility in the commonwealth, generating hundreds of new employment opportunities for Kentucky residents,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “Kentucky is becoming a logistics hub, offering its new and existing companies quick and easy access to the world.”
GSI Commerce enables approximately 60 retailers, branded manufacturers, entertainment companies and professional sports organizations to operate e-commerce businesses. Its new 540,000 square-foot facility will be located in IDI’s Park South in Richwood, approximately 10 miles south of downtown Cincinnati. The company’s other facilities are located in Louisville and Shepherdsville.
“We chose Northern Kentucky for our newest fulfillment operation because we found the region to have a qualified and available workforce, a facility that can meet our requirements, and the state provided attractive economic incentives for us,” said Bob Wuesthoff, GSI Commerce executive vice president for global operations.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved GSI Commerce for tax benefits up to $5 million under the Kentucky Jobs Development Act (KJDA), an incentive program designed to increase service- and technology-related employment in the state.
