Datatrac Information Services Opens in Williamsburg
Governor Ernie Fletcher and Cabinet for Economic Development officials joined local and company representatives in mid October to commemorate the opening of Datatrac Information Services, Inc.’s new facility in Williamsburg. The company will be creating and storing digital copies of government files, resulting in more than 250 new jobs in the commonwealth.
“Datatrac is very excited about this newest project we’ve been able to bring to Kentucky,” said Dave Chamberlain, the company’s chief operating officer. “Over the past eight years, we have built strong win-win relationships with the communities in which we are located, and we look forward to doing the same in Williamsburg,” he continued.
Founded in 1987, Datatrac is a leading provider of information technology services and solutions to federal government organizations. The company is renovating a 57,000 square-foot former Wal-Mart building to accommodate its newest operation, which involves a state-of-the-art digital conversion and archiving operation. The work is the result of a contract with the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Office of Records Services.
As part of its multi-year contract with the Department of Homeland Security, Datatrac, along with its subcontractor Anacomp, Inc., will assist U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services with its efforts to create, standardize, and implement digitization processes and technologies, providing the foundation for electronic capture and management of critical agency data.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved Datatrac Information Services for tax benefits up to $2 million under the Kentucky Jobs Development Act (KJDA), an incentive program designed to attract service- and technology-related employment to the state.
