ThinkKentucky.com
Receives Extreme Makeover
The Cabinet for Economic Development has overhauled its
ThinkKentucky.com Web site and will launch the new and improved online
marketing tool in late July.
The revamped site will not only be more user-friendly, but will
incorporate the state's "Unbridled Spirit" brand more effectively. An
exciting addition to the site will be the opportunity to feature success
stories from Kentucky companies, such as Humana, North American Stainless,
Toyota, UPS and Webasto to name a few.
Site consultants and corporate executives from around the globe
use ThinkKentucky.com to gather data on available sites and buildings,
community data, and facts about doing business in Kentucky. This
information and more is also utilized by existing Kentucky companies looking to
expand operations.
Small and start-up businesses can also find a wealth of
resources to walk them step-by-step through the challenging process of making
their venture a success. Information on small business advocacy,
certification, international trade, permits and licenses are only the tip of
the iceberg of what can be found on the site.
"ThinkKentucky.com has been a vital business resource for a
long time," said Secretary Gene Strong. "But the world of online communications
is ever-changing. As time passed the amount of information we made available on
our site continued to grow. It became clear that the site needed to be
reconfigured to accommodate all that information. Now our databases, the
services we offer and other information are arranged with our end user in
mind."
A focus on developing Kentucky's high-tech industries will also
be prominent. In a new Technology & Innovation section, information
on funding, technologies, academic resources, initiatives and more will be
available for bioscience companies looking to locate, expand or start up in
Kentucky.
The number of categories on the site's main navigation will be
reduced from 14 to seven and will include Why Kentucky, Business Assistance,
Site Selection, Technology & Innovation, Community Assistance, Data Center,
and Who We Are.
Highlights of the site include:
-
Searchable GIS database - a gold mine of information about buildings, sites and
the communities they're in
-
Kentucky Business Finder - searchable database of nearly 1,300 Kentucky
businesses by type of business or location
-
Guidance on starting your business, expanding your business, moving into
international markets, landing government contracts, and more
-
Information on training programs, financing and incentive programs, and other
assistance
-
Reams of data on various industries, the cost of doing business in Kentucky,
taxes and much more
"Updating our Web site is part of our continuing commitment to
improve the quality of information available to new
and expanding businesses in Kentucky," Secretary Strong said.
