Governor Ernie Fletcher announces that Greenville in Muhlenberg County has been selected to house a new manufacturing facility for Gourmet Express LLC.

Gourmet Express Selects Greenville for New Manufacturing Facility

Governor Ernie Fletcher joined officials from Muhlenberg County and the city of Greenville on April 25 to announce the location of Gourmet Express LLC.

The new operation will manufacture and market skillet meals under the Gourmet Dining label, which can be found in major supermarkets. The company will invest $7.3 million in the commonwealth to move its manufacturing operation from Gridley, Illinois, creating 200 new Kentucky jobs within two years.

"We are excited to make this move to Greenville and look forward to becoming part of the community," said Gourmet Express Chairman & CEO, Robert W. Scully.  "Over a year ago we embarked upon a long search based on supply and customer matrixes.  Greenville fits well into our grid matrix, and we are pleased that Kentucky is such a business friendly state. Affordable energy is also quite important to us. We are committed to continue being the category's low cost and best value provider of skillet meals.  This move fits well with our strategic objectives and future growth plans."

Gourmet Express has had a steady increase in sales and profits each year since its inception, experiencing a growth rate of 25 percent per year since 2003. The company's primary focus is to supply customers with Home Meal Replacements which are easy to prepare, delicious and a good consumer value.

The location decision was assisted by the approval of tax benefits by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) for up to $5 mllion under the Kentucky Rural Economic Development Act (KREDA).
