Kentucky's special advertising section in the May 22, 2006 issue of Forbes magazine details Kentucky's economic development and tourism successes and assets.

Forbes Magazine Features Kentucky's Unbridled Spirit

Governor Ernie Fletcher and Steve Forbes, President & CEO of Forbes Inc., recently promoted the release of a special section in Forbes magazine intended to showcase Kentucky to the country's top business and tourism executives.

Forbes produced the segment, titled, "Kentucky Unbridled Spirit," with assistance from the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and the Kentucky Commerce Cabinet. The section appeared in the May 22, 2006, issues of Forbes and Forbes Asia.

"We want to encourage more jobs and people to come to Kentucky, and Forbes is the perfect vehicle for us to use to make that happen, said Governor Ernie Fletcher."

Forbes, together with its international edition, Forbes Asia, reaches an audience of 5.2 million readers. Forbes has been the consistent leader among major business publications in the economic development-advertising category, according to Publishers Information Bureau (PIB).

"I became interested in Kentucky's progress last year when Governor Fletcher brought his top economic development and tourism leaders to my office in New York to discuss the state's progress and to ask us to partner with them on this effort," said Steve Forbes. "I then came to Kentucky last December and met with Kentucky local business and tourism leaders. This supplement very effectively showcases the excitement and progressive attitude Kentucky has to offer."
