NHK Spring Co. Opens State-of-the-Art Plant in Louisville’s Riverport
Governor Ernie Fletcher joined officials from NHK Spring Co. Ltd. and NHK Spring Precision of America in Louisville this spring to celebrate the opening of a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the Louisville and Jefferson County Riverport.
The NHK Spring Precision of America plant has a workforce of 66, including some part-time employees, with intended growth to 110 employees within a few years. The project represents a $30 million investment in the commonwealth.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who were involved in making NHK Spring Precision of America, Inc. a reality," said President and Chief Operating Officer Naoki Terakado.
Takehiko Amaki, president and CEO of NHK Spring Co. in Japan, and Tsutomu Yamaguchi, chairman and CEO of NHK Spring Precision of America, Inc., also participated in the grand opening ceremony.
NHK Spring has operations in eight countries, with 23 overseas affiliated companies. Two of its subsidiaries are also located in Kentucky, including NHK of America Suspension Components, Inc., in Bowling Green and New Mather Metals, Inc. in Franklin.

NHK Spring Co., established in 1939, is one of the world’s leading spring manufacturers. Primary products are automobile suspension springs, automobile seats, precision springs and components, suspensions for hard disk drive, industrial machinery and equipment, security technologies and solutions and more.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) approved NHK Spring Co. for tax benefits up to $1.6 million under the Kentucky Industrial Development Act (KIDA), an incentive program designed to attract and expand manufacturing operations in the state.
