Mauer USA Announces First U.S. Facility in Boone County

Northern Kentucky recently welcomed the addition of Mauer USA, LLC, an international plastic injection molding manufacturer, to its corporate landscape.  The European company announced plans last month to open its first U.S. facility in Boone County.  The $10.8 million investment will result in 100 new jobs, 85 of which are expected to be filled by Kentucky residents.

"We chose Kentucky, and in particular Boone County, because of the business-friendly environment, being near an international airport, the skill levels of the potential workforce and the overall quality of life," stated Klaus Mauer, president and CEO of Mauer AG and Mauer USA. "This process has been a very pleasant experience for our company. We greatly appreciate the professional assistance and advice received from the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and the Tri-County Economic Development Corporation. Additionally, the willingness of those working with us to continue assisting a company once they have located is of great importance to me."

Plans for the new facility include the manufacture of injection molded caps and closures for the U.S. packaging industry. The company plans to build a 40,000 square-foot facility in the Riverview Business Park.

"Boone County and Northern Kentucky continue to showcase a positive business climate and demonstrate their ability to attract quality companies," said Governor Ernie Fletcher. "Their efforts are to be congratulated.  Kentucky is proud to welcome Mauer USA as its newest corporate citizen."

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) approved Mauer USA, LLC for tax benefits up to $1,556,274 under the Kentucky Industrial Development Act (KIDA), an incentive program designed to attract and expand manufacturing operations in the state.
