Cabinet Assists
Small Business with Obtaining Federal Contract
Utilizing services provided by the Cabinet's Kentucky
Procurement Assistance Program (KPAP), Wilkerson and Associates of Louisville
(W&A), which supplies marketing research and data analysis to the business,
political and government communities, was recently awarded a multi-million
dollar contract with four annual options from the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services.
"By winning this federal contract it has tripled W&A's
annual revenue. It would not have been possible without Bob Heil and KPAP's
help," says Harold Busack, Chief Financial Officer for
Wilkerson.
"What makes this a special occasion is the fact that Wilkerson
and Associates is the first small business to ever be awarded this contract.
Previous holders of the contract include the University of Wisconsin and
Westat," says Bob Heil, Business Development Coordinator for KPAP.
"The contract involves conducting 600,000 phone and mail
interviews done by over 200 Wilkerson and Associates employees. The
survey results are reported annually to Congress and have a tremendous effect
on congressional decisions relating to Medicare," says Heil.
"W&A had not previously bid on a federal contract and we
had a large amount of questions as to where to begin the process. With KPAP's
guidance, everything seemed to flow in an easy to understand manner," concludes
Mr. Busack.
Wilkerson and Associates, in business since 1976, has a staff
with over 175 years of market research experience and has call centers in
Louisville and Campbellsville.
